October 2008----Second CD is
Actually FINISHED !!!!

Music is available and awaiting ears

Velhalla – a band that steers clear of today's generic pop-rock recipe. Together, they have managed to distinguish themselves from thousands of rock bands already out there through innovation. In a few words, Velhalla can be described as some combination of funk, rock, and reggae, three genres that, when combined, smash any hint of pansy pop-rock.

The band's appreciation of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Clash, and Sublime helped to set its course and define its musical character. Not only are Velhalla's songs edgy and gripping, but they have a unique groove.

The band members grew up together outside Washington D.C. in Montgomery County Maryland. While their backgrounds are similar, their musical tastes are broad; Opie Sherrod, lead guitarist, plays melodic lines influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman and Slash, Isiah Johnson loves Marley and handles the drums, Jordan DePetrillo channels Flea and provides a dynamic bass backbone, and Tommy Sherrod completes Velhalla's sound by being . . . . . around.

Their second CD BARTIMIS was just finished and is available for purchase through the contact link. Velhalla's unique style, introduced on BE WITH ME, continues with BARTIMIS.
Experience Velhalla for yourself.

“I thought it was great demo. I was very impressed and thought the playing, singing and song writing was beyond your years. I found one of the tunes replaying in my head.”
-Eric Ulrich, Session Guitarist

What makes Velhalla muscle to the front of the pack are the original songs of brothers Tommy and Opie, with Jordan in the role of George Harrison, Isiah a John Bonham. The boys clearly have listened to the best of the 60s and 70s, and their songs swagger with today's post-punk attitude, but are sweetened by melodic hooks from 60's AM radio singles.
-Geary S. Mizuno, project studio recording engineer;
music freak nee "High Fidelity."

“I really liked it demo! The song writing was great, and you guys are really tight.”
-Nick Valente, Producer,
Rex Riot Studios

This music is one of those things that gets into your head – and I don't mind it being there.
-Coleman O'Donoughue, Manager Percussion, Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center

. . . . the compositions are refreshing
and different.
-Bob Novak, percussion,
Shosho
